Coley calls for reinforcements

- JACQUE TALBOT

STANLEY boss John Coleman has stressed the need for reinforcements, ahead of his side’s Friday night trip to Notts County.

Stanley are looking to build on a mostly positive start to their League Two campaign, where they have won twice, including Saturday’s 2-1 victory over promotion favourites Mansfield Town, and lost once.

But Accrington’s squad is now becoming stretched. Omar Beckles has departed to newlypromoted League One side Shrewsbury Town, and centre-back Tom Dallison picked up a calf injury against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday, during the Reds’ 3-1 loss to the Midlands side in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking after the defeat at the Wham stadium, the 54-year-old manager Coleman said, “We’re playing on Friday, so we’ll rest definitely on Wednesday and then we’ll do the necessary prep on Thursday and possibly Friday. The one thing that we need to get in the next couple of weeks: I’ve got to get reinforcements in.

“The squads getting thinner by the second, as we lost Beckles today to Shrewsbury, and it looks like we could lose Tom [Dallison] with a calf strain.

“We’ve got 16 fit professional players and that’s not enough for this league, so I do need to bring two or three more bodies in.

Accrington, who are in sixth place in the league, will face a Notts County side positioned just a place below them.
