ROY SOUTHWARD

MR Roy Southward died peacefully at Hope House, Clayton-le-Moors on Wednesday, August 23, aged 78.

Roy served his time as a joiner at Cocker Chemicals where he was employed until his retirement.

He was born and bred in Oswaldtwis­tle where he lived on New Lane for all of his married life. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline.

Roy had a static caravan in Cumbria for more than 30 years and along with Jacqueline made may lifelong friends there. They also enjoyed lots of family time there and made many happy memories together.

He loved the outdoor life and enjoyed fishing, birdwatchi­ng and clay pigeon shooting. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchild­ren Matthew and Katherine, and liked nothing more than taking them fishing, for walks in the countrysid­e and for trips to Blackpool. He also enjoyed many holidays abroad, especially to Spain and Canada.

Roy was the beloved husband of Jacqueline, dearly loved dad of Steven, father-in-law of Lesley and beloved grandfathe­r of Matthew and Katherine. Roy will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Jacqueline and family would like to thank all of the staff at Hope House for their care and support.

A funeral Service, officiated by Reverend Peter Cox, followed by committal will take place on Tuesday, September 5 at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.
