A-mazing Junaid is lost for words at star turn

-

JUNAID Ahmed, from Accrington, was left ‘speechless’ after achieving a 9 in maths and ‘predominantly A* and As’ in other results at Mount Carmel High School.

He said: “The 9 in maths is unbelievable. I’m speechless and it’s an overwhelming experience.

“It’s opened doors to the future. I got predominantly As and A*s which I was expecting but the maths I’m really happy with.”

Junaid will now go on to study A-Levels in biology, chemistry and maths at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and then aims to go into medicine.

Head girl Ambar Saddique, from Accrington, also achieved a 9 in maths and A*s and As in other subjects.

She will now study A-Levels in maths, biology and chemistry at St Mary’s College in Blackburn and also hopes to go into medicine.

She said: “I was really worried over the holidays. I’ve been constantly looking over the different marking schemes to work out the potential highs and lows.

“I’m looking forward to focusing on the subjects that I’m really passionate about and to a high level.”

Olivia Logiudice, from Accrington, was the only student to achieve a 9 in English language and will now go on to Burnley College to study A-Levels in English language, English literature and art.

She said: “As soon as I saw that I got a 9 I was so emotional. I broke down crying. I was the only one to get a 9 and I didn’t really expect it. I thought I had passed but never thought I would do so well. I’ve been trying not to think about this day but it has crept up on me over the last few days.”

Olivia’s mum Caroline said her results are ‘absolutely fabulous’.

She said: “I can’t get over it. I can’t believe it.”

Head boy Callum Evans, from Accrington, gained two 8s in maths and English language, four A*s, an A and a 6 in English literature.

He will now study biology, chemistry and physics at Nelson and Colne College and hopes to be a vet in the future. He said: “They are better results than I was expecting, especially in English with an 8 in language and a 6 in literature.”

Chuko Odudu, 16, from Accrington, was really proud of his A in drama and will join Burnley College to study A-Levels in film studies, media studies and English language.

He said: “I’m really happy with that and also really happy that I passed my English as well.

“I wish I could have done better in my maths but overall I’m really happy with my grades. I thought the exams were quite tough this year.”

Paige Procter, from Oswaldtwistle, achieved an A in English language, Bs in English literature, religious education and catering and Cs in maths, science and geography.

She said: “I was never expecting the result in English. I’ve been fine the last few weeks and wasn’t stressed about it but I’m glad it’s now over.”

She will now study A-Levels including law and business and Burnley College.

Danyal Grasso, 16, from Accrington, was ‘elated’ with his 7 in English language and 5 in maths. He said: “I never thought I would pass maths but somehow I did. I literally cried straight after the maths exam.”

Danyal will now study A-Levels in drama, French and music at Burnley College and hopes to then go on to university.
