Another good week to be in claret and blue

KATERINA LEE’S CLARETS VIEW

FROM Wednesday through to Sunday, it was a very good week for Burnley all things considered.

Beating our neighbours seven times consecutively and knocking them out of a cup run, as well as drawing with Spurs, who we would look likely to lose to given the calibre of their squad.

One thing that doesn’t sit right with me about beating Blackburn is the fashion in which we did - it was almost too easy.

It’s just testament to how bad the club are now and it’s a bittersweet feeling watching Burnley as though we were at a training match.

I’d feel sorry for them if we hadn’t been in their position (if not worse) whilst they were winning the Premier League.

At least in the instances we played them way back then, they were heads and shoulders better than us but we at least tried.

I must admit it was one of the times I’ve least been excited for a Derby, it was more just a case of if we lose this, we’re dreadful and what an embarrassment it would be for us.

I have a feeling the Blackburn fans knew what was coming because Ewood was both half full and non-atmospheric, even for a Derby.

With our Sunday match away at Spurs’ temporary home, Wembley, it started with what I was expecting to see away from home - defend, defend, defend. We let through Alli after he’d been coming at us for some time, but we didn’t let our heads drop in the second half.

Chris Wood made a huge impact the second he stepped onto the pitch. It seemed as though him and Brady weren’t prepared to give up and leave it a 1-0 loss.

Brady’s wonderful cross in to Wood made it an unbelievable 92nd minute equaliser, something of which last season we couldn’t have even dreamed of away from home.

So we’ve already bettered our away record from last year. And we’re playing convincing football that has got people talking.

A win, a loss and a draw in the league, and into the next round of the Carabao Cup having knocked out our biggest rivals.

Things aren’t looking too bad for little old Burnley right now.
