SANDRA Demaine, nee Hope, of Read, formerly of Las Vegas, died on Friday, September 1, aged 73.

The cherished and adored mum of Jill and Louise, she was loved mother-in-law of Mark and Tony, special nana of Bradley, Taylor, Demaine and Bowie, loved sister of Valerie and Jeffrey, and also a loved sister-in-law and auntie.

Sandra had an infectious zest for living and lived each day to its full. She was a beautiful lady inside and out.

She worked at the Dunkenhalg­h as head waitress for many years and then at the Walton Arms.

Sandra then became a nanny in New York and lived a film-star lifestyle and for the last 23 years she lived in Las Vegas.

She loved beauty and fashion and cut a very striking figure with her blonde hair and red lipstick. She was very avant garde in her style.

She loved her holidays and Hawaii was her most adored destinatio­n. Sandra will be sorely missed.

Sandra’s funeral service was due to take place at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, Accrington, on Thursday, September 7, at 12.20pm.

Funeral director: Champ Funeral Services, MR Alan Robertson Webber, of Woodlands Nursing Home, Claytonle-Moors, died peacefully at Woodlands, on Thursday, August 31, aged 86.

Beloved husband of Dorothy, he was dearly loved dad of Susan and Christine, much-loved father-in-law of Michael and Raymond, a devoted grandad of Matthew, David, Gemma and Julie and an adored greatgrand­ad.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 12, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, at 2.20pm, conducted by the minister Sandra Howles, followed by cremation.

KEVIN MCDONALD

KEVIN McDonald, of Walmsley Close, Church, died on Saturday, August 26, aged 57.

Kevin retired from Accrington Nori as the shift manager, he liked going on holidays, gardening, horse racing, spending time with his family – especially his grandchild­ren – and his beloved dog Jess, as they were inseparabl­e.

He leaves his dearlylove­d wife Elaine, loved son Frazer and daughters Kelly and Emma, cherished grandchild­ren Callum and Caitlan, brother-in-law of Colleen and Kenny, uncle of Danielle, Ryan, Dylan, Madison and Macey and son-in-law of Margaret.

A service will be held on Friday, September 8, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, at 1pm by Father Neville Ashton.

Flowers are welcome but donations if desired to British Heart Foundation.

KENNETH WHITTAKER

KENNETH Whittaker, of Hudson Street, Accrington, died on Sunday, September 3, at Springhill Care Home, aged 87.

Kenneth worked at Lupton Brothers (spring makers) from 1944 to 1995.

He loved greyhound racing as well as horse racing and enjoyed playing football and cricket.

He leaves his brother Colin Whittaker, sister-inlaw Maureen Whittaker, niece Adele Thorpe and her husband Malcolm Thorpe, and niece Laura Shilliday and her partner Paul.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 14, at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11am, officiated by the minister Katy Carmichael, followed by cremation.

RONALD HADFIELD

RONALD Hadfield, of Manor Street, Accrington died on Friday, September 1, aged 89.

Ron, as he was known, retired from the manufactur­ing industry. He was an engineer and technical draftsman, general manager of The Accrington Brush Company.

He enjoyed mending watches and cameras.

He leaves his dearly beloved wife Bernadette and was the loved father of Kath and Dee and the late Peter, father-in-law of Andy and Michael, and was the dearly-loved grandad to Lysette, Adam, Jed and Josie.

A service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Friday, September 15 at 3pm, conducted by the Rev Philip Norris.

IRENE FINN

IRENE May Finn, of Ascot Way, Accrington, died on Friday, August 25, aged 81.

Irene was the school bursar at Moorhead High School and Accrington Grammar School.

She was a member of St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington, and formerly St John’s Church, Accrington. She was a keen flower arranger and a National Trust Member.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Finn, the devoted mother of Ian and Louise, the precious grandma of Claire, James, Timothy, Rebecca and Hannah and great-grandma of Alfie, Olivia and Jasper.

A Requiem Mass will be taken on Monday, September 11, at 10am at St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

DAVID O’HARE

DAVID O’Hare, of Accrington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 2, in the East Lancashire Hospice, aged 65.

David had a varied career, starting as an apprentice architect.

Then he worked for the TSB Bank for 10 years, before starting his own painting and decorating business, until moving into the car trade for many years.

He was able then to pursue his passion for property renovation, using his many skills and artistic talent to turn them into beautifull­y crafted homes.

David had many hobbies, mostly centred around coastal and outdoor activity where he had been able to fish, sail and walk for more than 50 years on the west coast of Cumbria, where the family and himself had static caravans.

Another passion of David’s was renovating classic Jaguar and Rover cars.

Greece was a country he loved, and spent many holidays there, before spending much of the last six years on the Aegean coast of Turkey, where he had many friends and was able to continue his love of walking and to visit places of interest and history.

David was a devoted and beloved husband to Pat, a proud and loving father to Jonathan, loved father-in-law to Kath, adored grandad of Ella. He was the son of the late Eileen and Jim, brother to Peter, Michael and the late Martin, brother-in-law to Irene and Annette, loved uncle of Victoria, James, Siobhan and Niamh and cherished friend to so many.

A funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Thursday, September 14, at 12.20pm conducted by Peter Cox.

ROY SOUTHWARD

ROY Southward died peacefully at Hope House, Clayton-le-Moors on Wednesday, August 23, aged 78.

Roy served his time as a joiner at Pilkington Brothers, Church. He then worked for himself, before going to work as a maintenanc­e joiner at Cocker Chemicals, where he was employed until his retirement.

He was born and bred in Oswaldtwis­tle where he lived on New Lane for all of his married life. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline.

Roy had a static caravan in Cumbria for more than 30 years and along with Jacqueline made may lifelong friends there. They also enjoyed lots of family time there and made many happy memories together.

He loved the outdoor life and enjoyed fishing, birdwatchi­ng and clay pigeon shooting. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchild­ren Matthew and Katherine, and liked nothing more than taking them fishing, for walks in the countrysid­e and for trips to Blackpool. He also enjoyed many holidays abroad, especially to Spain and Canada.

Roy was the beloved husband of Jacqueline, dearly loved dad of Steven, father-in-law of Lesley and beloved grandfathe­r of Matthew and Katherine. Roy will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Jacqueline and family would like to thank all of the staff at Hope House for their care and support.

A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Peter Cox, followed by committal took place on Tuesday, September 5, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.
