Roof fund boost as angels prove a hit

RAIN failed to dampen spirits as a village was transformed into an angel wonderland.

Around 2,000 people flocked to the Altham Angels Festival and saw gardens filled with eyecatching creations.

These included an alien angel, nurse angel and ‘Angel of the North’.

Churchwarden Les Moore said the aim of the festival was to ‘connect Altham St James Church to the community’ as well as raising much-needed funds.

He said: “The weather wasn’t kind to us and the numbers were well down on last year, but nevertheless it was still a success.

“As people walked around they were commenting about what a lovely feel there was. We also raised £2,500 profit which will go towards the cost of a new church roof.”
