MR Barry Holden, of Roegreave Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, unexpected­ly passed away at home on Thursday, September 21, aged 58.

Known to his family and friends as Baz or Curly, he was a familiar face around Oswaldtwis­tle, Church and Accrington.

He was a Jack of all trades who would help anyone out with any work or odd jobs that needed doing.

In his spare time when he was younger he enjoyed fishing and more recently studied the art of beekeeping.

Barry sadly leaves his dearly-loved partner Christine, his much-loved children Anita, Garry and Graham and also his many treasured grandchild­ren.

He will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held at 9.40am on Friday, September 29, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Donations are welcomed in memory of Baz to go towards the funeral service c/o Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwis­tle.

STEPHEN HAWORTH

MR Stephen Haworth, of Manchester Road, Baxenden, Accrington, died on Monday, September 11, aged 60.

He was still working for Thales UK as an Electronic­s Engineer where he had worked for over 40 years.

His interests included photograph­y, model railways, cars and country music.

He recently took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for two local hospices.

He had been an active member of Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society and continued to research family history.

Son of the late Bernard and Dorothy Haworth, he was twin brother of Susan Haworth, and also a dear cousin and good friend to all who knew him.

A funeral service will take place at 11am on Monday, October 2, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by Reverend Shirley Devine, followed by cremation. No flowers. Donations, if desired, suggested for East Lancashire Hospice.

Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Service. MRS Anne Jefferson Hartley, of Whiteash Brook Nursing Home – formerly of Marlboroug­h Road, Accrington - passed away on Wednesday, September 20, aged 93.

She was a shop-girl at Woods Tobacconis­t on Broadway, Accrington until getting married in 1947 to Jack and becoming a housewife and mother.

Anne was brought up with sister Margaret in their parents’ selling out shop in Burnley Road, Accrington.

She was a devoted member of St John’s Church, Accrington from being a young girl and was a founder member of the Mothers’ Union. Anne was the sacristan/flower arranger for many years.

She was a very wellknown and popular lady about town.

Anne and her late husband were enthusiast­ic dancers at The Con Club in Accrington.

Widow of the late Jack to whom she was married to for over 55 years until his death in 2003, she leaves children Chris, Janice and Jean, together with grandchild­ren Edward, India, Adam, Rachel, Johanna and Adela, also greatgrand­children Darcy, Fallon and Miles, son-in-law Martyn, and Edward’s wife Leane.

A funeral service will be held at 1.30pm on Monday, October 2, at St John’s Church, administer­ed by Gerald Higham, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 2.20pm.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired to Dementia UK, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queen’s Road, Accrington. MR David Reid, of Moorhouse Avenue, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, aged 68.

He worked as an electricia­n at Platts and Marshall Clay Products and retired as a caretaker at St Leonard’s Primary School in Balderston­e.

He liked playing snooker at Globe Bowling Club and was a Burnley Football Club fan.

He also enjoyed watching sports, gardening and holidays abroad, with Portugal being a favourite destinatio­n. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer would like to thank the paramedics and all the staff at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, who attended to all his needs.

Married to Jennifer, he was father to Paul, Steven and Sean, grandfathe­r to David, Jack, Hannah and Megan, and father-in-law to Melanie and Jackie.

A funeral service and cremation took place on Wednesday, September 27, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by Peter Cox. Family flowers. Donations, if desired, requested to Cancer Research or Alzheimer’s UK.

MARION CLYNES

MARION Clynes, of Cheltenham Avenue, Accrington, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, aged 84.

She was a solicitor’s clerk and had worked at Barlow Rowland Solicitors in Accrington.

She was a ‘silver surfer’ and played online Scrabble with people from around the world and regularly Skyped her sister Christine in Australia.

She spent hours sharing stories about her children and grandchild­ren.

The wine was always Merlot and the glass was always a large one – but it was only ever one glass.

Widow of Anthony Clynes, she was mother of Stephen, David, Richard and Judy.

Requiem Mass will be held at 10.15am on Tuesday, October 3, at St Joseph’s RC Accrington, administer­ed by Fr Stamp, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, at 11.40am.

FREDA DEMAIN

MRS Freda Demain (nee Wrightson), of Aspen Lane, Oswaldtwis­tle, died peacefully at home with her close friends by her side on Saturday, September 23, aged 82.

Freda grew up in Blackburn, but for a time lived with her Grandma in Nottingham, before returning back up north. Most of her working life was spent working for a butchers in Blackburn. Freda has also in the past been a silver service waitress at The Wellspring­s and in her younger years worked in a mill. In her spare time and more so her retirement Freda enjoyed gardening and walking her beloved dogs, Tinker and Shula.

In the past she also took pleasure in joining her husband Michael, who was a coach driver, on his coach trips. Together they travelled throughout the UK and also across Europe. She particular­ly loved the cities of Paris and London.

Freda was the dearlylove­d wife of the late Michael, a dear auntie of Josh and Nathan, and a close and dear friend of May and Paul Edmundson and also Jean, Kathy and Noreen.

Her funeral service will take place at 11am on Wednesday, October 4, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

JOSEPH TODD

MR Joseph Todd died suddenly on Friday, September 22, at home in Haslingden, aged 71.

He had a successful business career as director of his own heating company until his retirement. He enjoyed travelling and in his spare time enjoyed playing golf. He was a long-time member of Accrington Golf Club.

He is survived by lifetime partner Marilyn, two children Dominic and Michaella and four grandchild­ren Benedict, Isabel, Noah and Benjamin; son-in-law Chris and Lauir, brother in-law Stephen, sister in-law and nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at 9.15am on Monday, October 2, at St Mary’s RC Church, Haslingden, followed by a committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 10.20am, officiated by Father John Broadley. Family flowers only please, but donations in memory of Joe are welcome for the British Heart Foundation c/o funeral director Johnson, Durning and Woods Funeral Service, Haslingden.
