YOUR EVENT

-

Name of event:

When We Are Married, by JB Priestley to mark Oswaldtwistle Players’ 50th Anniversary 1967-2017.

Where is it?:

The Civic Arts Centre and Theatre.

When is it?:

7.30pm nightly (doors open at 6.30), Wednesday, October 18 to Saturday, October 21.

What does it involve?:

Keeping the anniversary theme in mind, our 100th production in October will be a revival of the lively comedy ‘When We Are Married’, by JB Priestley, previously presented by the society in 1989. Three very respectable well-todo couples, married on the same day by the same vicar, gather for ‘a-bit-of-ado’ to celebrate 25 years of marriage, only to be told by the current chapel organist that their marriages had not been legal. They are desperate to keep this quiet but an alcohol-soaked press photographer, an old flame and a gleefully vindictive housekeeper threaten to expose their embarrassing secret to the town. We are delighted to revisit this brilliant classic comedy and would love to see photos, programmes or memories from cast members or audiences from the 1989 production, (or from any other of our past productions from the society’s early days, for a planned exhibition).

Any other information?:

Wednesday £7.50. Thursday to Saturday £9 / £8.50. Tickets can be purchased from The Civic Arts Centre and Theatre, Oswaldtwistle, Accrington Town Hall or by visiting www.ticketsource.co.uk/ oswplayers.
