Stryjek could be out for another month

-

STANLEY have suffered a setback after John Coleman revealed goalkeeper Max Stryjek’s injury is set to keep him out longer than expected.

The on-loan Sunderland goalkeeper suffered a hamstring injury just nine minutes into his Stanley debut.

It was hoped that he wouldn’t be out for too long, but after returning to parent club Sunderland for tests on the injury, Coleman says he may be out for another month.

“Max is going to be a bit longer than we anticipated. He’s had another scan on his hamstring and it isn’t good news,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’ll have to soldier on and hopefully within three or four weeks he’ll be back training with us.”

Coleman has also said that the injury to Stryjek may force him to look for a free agent goalkeeper that can join the club.

“We could only sign a goalkeeper who’s unattached, we can’t have an emergency loan,” he said. “The free agent market is something that we are exploring for cover at the moment.”

One player who has recovered from a minor injury is striker Kayden Jackson, who played for Stanley during their 2-1 victory over Port Vale on Tuesday.

It was unknown if he would feature due to being forced off in the game with Cheltenham last Saturday, but Coleman has heaped praise on him for his influence this season.

“Kayden’s become a massive part of the way that we want to play, we could see that from when he first arrived in pre-season,” he said. “Even though he wasn’t scoring we knew he could stretch the opposition.”

Coleman also expects Ben Richards-Everton to return from injury soon after dislocating his shoulder last month.
