JOHN Coleman admits that Accrington Stanley’s great start to the season has made him wish it was May already!

The Reds have looked very impressive during their 10 league matches, winning six of them to leave them third in the League Two table.

If the season was to end now, Stanley would claim one of the three automatic promotion places, something they failed to do during the 2015/16 season when they suffered heartbreak on the final day and dropped out of the top three.

Coleman has been keen to right that wrong ever since then, with the team appearing to have a good chance of doing that after the fast start they’ve made. we should have more points on the board but it’s early days,” he told the club’s official website. “You can’t get carried away as this league table can be shaken up in the space of a month.

“What we have done though is given ourselves a chance to be able to compete at the top end of the table.

“You have to accumulate as many points as you can while you can and that will give you a safety net for the second half of the season.

“We didn’t have a safety net last season and the run we went on would have got any team promoted but we were too far back.

“If we go on a run like that again we want to do it from a position of strength not weakness. I just wish it was May!”

Up next for Accrington is a trip to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.
