RHYDDINGS students took on a day of international-themed challenges and activities as part of their continent house system.
Based on four of the continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas), all students and staff have been allocated a house, and compete throughout the year.
The areas they compete in range from attendance and punctuality to sport, performing arts and academic progress.
For the continents day, each house took part in a variety of activities, including a drumming workshop and team building challenges.
Also present at the event was ‘Animal Man’ Simon Airey from Corner Exotics, who brought in a range of weird and wonderful creatures for the students to look at and hold.
These included a chinchilla, chameleon, hedgehog, tarantula, scorpion and a selection of nonvenomous snakes.
Simon spoke to the students about the animals, how they evolved, where in the world they come from and how humans are affecting them and their natural habitats.
Continent event organiser Anna Booth said: “The students were brilliant and really got into all of the different challenges.
“Some elements of the day were quite competitive and the students also showed great teamwork and leadership skills.”
