DEIRDRE EASTHAM
MR BRIAN Edwards died at home on Saturday, October 21, following a long period of illness, aged 76.
Brian was originally from Smethwick in the West Midlands and was a chartered engineer.
He started his working life as a fireman in the West Midlands. After five years in the service he moved on to pure engineering and got involved in weighing systems. He travelled the world in this capacity installing and maintaining sophisticated weighing and measurement systems. During this time having gained all the practical experience, he later moved onto designing and selling systems across the world.
He loved his cars, music and walking our dogs around the lovely Accrington countryside.
He was the much-loved husband and best friend of Suzanne, father to Louise and grandfather to Archie, Molly and Henry.
Brian will be much missed.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
A funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Tuesday, October 31, at 1.40pm.

GLENIS TOWLER
MRS Glenis Towler, of St Ledger Court, Accrington, passed away on Monday, October 23, aged 83.
Glenis worked as a secretary for over 20 years.
She enjoyed reading and watching tennis, especially Wimbledon until her eyesight diminished. The beloved mother of the late Stephen Kelvyn Towler, she was grandmother to Lisa and Stephen and greatgrandmother to Joseph, Stephanie, Tamzin and Zena.
The family wish to express their sincere thanks to all relatives, friends and neighbours for cards of condolence and kind expressions of sympathy and donations received during their time of sorrow.
Also thanks to doctors, nurses and staff who helped her through a difficult time. Thanks to staff at Broadfield for their dedicated service in Glenis’ time of need.
An extra special thanks to Wendy for being such a good friend and helping her through a difficult time.

IAN TAYLORSON
MR Ian Taylorson, of Cranbourne Drive, Church, Accrington, passed away on Monday, October 9, aged 51.
Ian worked for VB Airsuspension as service manager for seven years, after working at TVAC in Leyland.
Ian liked doing D.I.Y., doing his motorbike up, holidays in Scotland with his family, taking his son David to motorsports, F1, playing snooker and going for walks with family. He was also a blood donor and supporter of the Air Ambulance.
He leaves partner Helen Kay Moorer, son David Taylorson, sister Nancy, brother-in-law Chris, and nephew and niece Richard and Fiona.
A funeral service will be held at 2.20pm on Friday, October 27, at Accrington Crematorium, administered by David Ireland, followed by cremation.
Flowers are welcome, however donations, if desired, suggested to be made to N.W. Air Ambulance, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. MRS Deirdre Eastham nee Horrigan, of Hospital Cottages, Ribchester Road, Ribchester, passed away, on Saturday, October 21, aged 61.
Upon leaving Mount Carmel High School, she had trained as a nurse.
She then worked at Blackburn Infirmary Hospital, Queen’s Park Hospital and Accrington Victoria Hospital. She had worked as a practice nurse, for Haslingden Health Centre, where she retired from.
Her hobbies and interests included music, reading, gardening, walking the dog and travelling.
She leaves husband Paul Eastham and daughter Lianne Horrigan, and was sister of Eamonn Horrigan, Kieran Horrigan, Dermott Horrigan and Brendan Horrigan. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Jo Horrigan.
A funeral service will be held at 9am on Friday, October 27, with a Requiem Mass, at St Anne’s Church, Cobham Road, Accrington, administered by Father Stamp, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington.

MARION ARMSTRONG
MRS Marion Armstrong, of Braeside Home for the Elderly, Oswaldtwistle and formerly of Church, passed away on Sunday, October 22, at hospital, aged 90.
Marion worked at the Dairies at West End and later as a production worker for Whitbreads Brewery, Blackburn, up until her retirement.
She was a member of a domino team and also a member of Canine W.M.C.
In her spare time Marion enjoyed socialising.
Marion was the wife of the late William Armstrong, and had children Susan, Jimmy, Brian, Lawrence, Hughie and the late Jeanette and Beryl.
She was also a motherin-law and leaves her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1.40pm on Wednesday, November 1, at Accrington Cemetery Chapel, administered by Rev Martin Joss, followed by committal at Accrington Cemetery, at 2.30pm. Flowers are welcomed. Funeral director: Kirby and Hughes.
NELLIE STOKES
MRS Nellie Stokes, of Church View Nursing Home, Church Street, Oswaldtwistle, passed away on Monday, October 9, aged 95.
Nellie was born and raised in Hyndburn. For most of her working life she was a domestic cleaner and also at various offices in the area.
She loved listening to middle of the road music – but her particular favourites were Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Harry Seacombe. She enjoyed watching TV - especially the soaps, including Coronation Street and Emmerdale. She also took a keen interest in snooker, tennis and nature programmes. In years past she enjoyed regular breaks to the seaside, visiting various resorts, but her favourite by far was Llandudno, North Wales.
Nellie was the wife of the late Sid, and devoted mother of Trevor, Val and Martin and John.
She was a special friend of Dorothy and Doreen, a much-loved Grandma and great-grandma, and a very dear friend to all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 11.40am on Friday, October 27, at 11.40am, at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington, administered by Rev Louise Makin, followed by cremation.

DORIS NORCLIFFE
MRS Doris Norcliffe nee Green, of Belvedere Nursing Home and formerly of Burnley Road, Accrington, died on Wednesday, October 18, aged 90.
She worked as a piner at Luptons Mill, Accrington, for a number of years before becoming a full-time housewife bringing up her three sons.
She enjoyed holidays in Malta, owned a touring caravan and enjoyed holidays all over Great Britain, especially The Lake District. Doris loved to watch the soaps, particularly Coronation Street and Emmerdale and also enjoyed watching old films. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wife of the late Francis Norman, she was mother of Peter, Paul and Philip, mother-in-law of Christine and Melanie, grandma of Craig, Yvonne, Sharon, Krystie and Phillip, and greatgrandma of Maddison, Harvey, Alyssa, Mason and Sebastian.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, November 9, at Accrington Crematorium, followed by cremation. Flowers are welcomed. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
