‘Heavy’ drug user found with injuries
A HEAVY cannabis user who grew 16 cannabis plants and exchanged some of his ‘brand’ with other users has been warned he could face jail.
Craig Darbyshire, 49, of Barnes Street, Clayton-leMoors, pleaded guilty at Burnley Crown Court to producing cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Stephen Parker, prosecuting, told the court how police believe he was growing the cannabis ‘on behalf of somebody else’.
When officers arrested Darbyshire he was found with injuries and ‘wouldn’t cooperate or give any information’.
James Heyworth, defending, said Darbyshire pleaded guilty on a basis and requested a pre-sentence report.
He told the court: “[Darbyshire] accepts that he does have a significant cannabis habit. He would’ve smoked some and exchanged, and therefore supplied, some of his brand of cannabis with other cannabis users.
“He smoked a different type of the drug during the day to night time.”
Judge Beverley Lunt told Darbyshire: “All options will have to be considered including prison.”
Darbyshire was bailed for sentence on November 24.
