Care team in awards celebration

-

A FAMILY-RUN care company has held its annual awards evening.

Townfield Care, run by brothers Michael and John Timmins, operates Townfield and Coach House – a specialist dementia care home in Great Harwood – and Sherwood House, residential home for the elderly in Rishton.

The awards were held at Great Harwood Golf Club and hosted by Radio Lancashire’s Stephen Lowe. Dawn Spencer was named ‘employee of the year’ and Kimberley Brown, Farran Taylor and Sharon Birtwistle received ‘carer of the year’ awards.

Long-service awards were also presented to Linda Brown for 20 years service, Claire Houghton for 15 years, Lynn James and Janet Newton for 10 years, and Sharon Birtwistle, Pearl Burrows, Anne Child, Cath Martin and Izabela Szmidt for five years.

Townfield and Coach House’s main lounge, on Church Street, Great Harwood, has also been redesigned. Care home bosses said the lounge has been ‘modernised’ to make it a ‘more dementiafriendly space’.

The care home will hold a coffee and cake afternoon on Wednesday, November 22 from 1pm to 3pm.
