RITA McLester, of Dill Hall Lane, Church, Accrington, died on Thursday, November 16, aged 71.

Rita had a variety of jobs during her lifetime – working as a cash-out operator at the Maypole store in Accrington, before spending some time as a weaver at Rhoden Mill, Oswaldtwis­tle.

She also worked at Escorts pickle factory, Oswaldtwis­tle, XL Crisps in Great Harwood, Stockley’s Sweet Factory, Oswaldtwis­tle, Rists Wires and Cables, Accrington before finally working for a time as a canteen assistant at the Mastabar factory in Church.

Rita loved baking and cooking. She also loved her weekends away in her touring caravan. Along with her husband Donald they spent many happy times travelling to various destinatio­ns throughout the country.

Rita leaves her devoted husband Donald and devoted son Graham. She also leaves her sister Irene and brothers-inlaw Peter, Richard and Ken.

A funeral service will take place at 12.45pm on Friday, November 24, at St Mary Magdalen’s Church, Accrington, administer­ed by Fr. Lawrence Featham, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery, Burnley Road, Accrington.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, requested for Alzheimer’s Society c/o Funeral Directors Hyndburn Funeral Service, Queen’s Road, Accrington.
