Poorly kids get sweet treats from Stanley stars

-

ACCRINGTON Stanley players and staff attended a workshop creating chocolate bouquets to hand out on children’s wards at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Embracing their position as hard-working elves for the afternoon, members of the first team and their manager, John Coleman, were each tasked with creating new Accrington Stanleybranded chocolate bouquets.

‘Chocolate florists’ at Celebrate Gifts, on Cannon Street, Accrington, were on hand to teach and give the Reds stars one-to-one training to ensure they were completed to the highest standard.

Paul Bloor, managing director of Celebrate Gifts, said it was a fun day for everyone involved.

He added: “The players were really getting stuck in. We are thrilled to have had them in creating their bouquets, even more so knowing that they will be taken to children who are unfortunately spending the Christmas period in hospital.”

John Coleman, Stanley manager, said: “Accrington Stanley want to create magical memories for those who aren’t at home this Christmas and this was a great opportunity to not only do that, but get involved with the local community.” A CHRISTMAS party will be held at Hyndburn Leisure Centre’s Adventure City.

Visitors will be able to see Father Christmas in his grotto and receive a present, take part in a festive cracker hunt and buy themed arts and crafts.

Other activities include fancy dress, face painting and play equipment.

It will take place on Sunday, December 17, with sessions in the morning and afternoon. Entry costs £10 for adults and £2 for children.
