MR Edward William Greenwood, of Accrington, and formerly of Rossendale passed away at his home on Saturday, December 16, aged 68.

Edward started his career as a quantity surveyor for Fram Gerrard. He then went on and started his own constructi­on company in Warrington and then eventually retired due to illness. He was a member of Rossendale Rugby Club. Edward’s interest was travelling the world and he was an avid follower of Formula One and English rugby.

He was the devoted husband and best friend of Pauline, much-loved dad of Jonathan, dear father-in-law of Lucie, treasured grandpa of Amelia, much-loved brother of Josie,

Anne and Andrew, dear brother-in-law of Andres and Shirley and was so loved by his whole family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 28, at St James Church, Altham, prior to interment in the Churchyard and will be conducted by Revd. Colin Penfold.

Family flowers only please, however donations in memory of Edward may be made to The Pennine Acute Charity Trust Fund F11 c/o Valerie Roland, MRS Jean Dodd, of Woodside Road, Huncoat, Accrington, passed away on Thursday, December 14, aged 70.

She worked as a recruitmen­t manager for Express Gifts and was recently retired. She was also a former stewardess of the Helmshore Royal British Legion.

An avid singer, she enjoyed quizzes, socialisin­g, local community projects and knitting. She was formerly a committee member of various social clubs and also enjoyed travelling and holidaying abroad.

Mother to Nick, Billie-Jean, Clive and Alison, and former partner of the late James Jukes, she was widow of Tony Dodd, grandmothe­r of Lukas, Paul, Ayran, Tanya and family pets, sister of Christine and Joan, mother-in-law to Roberto, Lindsay and Philip, cousin and aunty to many.

A funeral service was due to be held at 11am on Thursday, December 21, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by Rev. Philip Norris, followed by cremation.

Family flowers only please, however, donations, if desired, to Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer MRS Patricia Anne Davies, of St Andrew’s Court, Kay Street, Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away on Sunday, December 17, aged 65.

She worked at Textile Mouldings Plastics factory for most of her life, then as a domestic assistant at Woodlands Care Home, before finally working at Wood Haven Day Care Centre.

She enjoyed going on holiday to Benidorm with her best friends. She also enjoyed going to the Brooks Club on Sunday afternoons.

Wife of the late Fred, she was sister to the late Peter and late Margo, sister to Jimmy, Mick and Phil, loving mother to Christophe­r and Caroline, daughter of the late Fred and Bridget Bull, motherin-law to Candice and nanna of Madeline-Anne.

A funeral service will take place at 12.20pm on Friday, December 29, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by Father Stamp, followed by cremation.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to East Lancs Hospice, c/o funeral MR Roy Hindle, of St Leger Court, Accrington, passed away on Sunday, December 10, aged 68.

A plant operative at Holland’s Pies, Roy was also the landlord of the Hyndburn Inn, Accrington, and the Lidgett Pub in Great Harwood.

In his spare time he enjoyed tenpin bowling, darts, and socialisin­g in the Arden Pub and Canine Club.

He leaves wife Mary Hindle, children Kelly, Faye and Tina, together with step-children Julie, Damian and Matthew.

A funeral service was due to take place at 3pm on Thursday, December 21, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, followed by cremation. Flowers are welcomed. Funeral director: Peter and Sonia Regan, Hyndburn Funeral and Monumental Services, Accrington.

MARY MCNALLY

MRS Mary McNally, of Hargreaves Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away on Saturday, December 16, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 73.

She worked as a supervisor at Willis Fabrics Factory, Oswaldtwis­tle, where she completed 30 years’ service. She was also a member of St Mary’s RC Church.

She enjoyed shopping, going out for lunch and going for drives.

She leaves daughters Josephine, Theresa and Joanne and was motherin-law of Daniel Dewhurst. She also leaves grandchild­ren Joseph, Amelia, Maxwell, Libby Abbie and Nicole.

A funeral service will be held at 9.30am on Thursday, December 28, at St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwis­tle, administer­ed by Father Joe Gee, followed by burial at Immanuel Parish Churchyard, Oswaldtwis­tle. Flowers are welcomed. Funeral director: Oswaldtwis­tle Funeral Services.

DOROTHY HART

MRS Dorothy Mary Hart née Riding, of Rishton, passed away in the loving care of East Lancashire Hospice with her daughters by her side on Sunday, December 17, aged 92.

Dorothy’s working life was with children as a Nursery Nurse. She was a long-serving and very active member of Rishton Parish Church and was a member of the Mother’s Union and Fellowship Group.

Dorothy loved walking and especially enjoyed walks with her husband Sidney. She enjoyed attending her monthly Book Club and also her weekly visits to the Rishton People’s Centre where she would catch up with friends and enjoy tea and biscuits.

She was an avid reader and always looked forward to completing the daily crossword in the Daily Mail.

Above all Dorothy was a proud grandma and great-grandma and she always loved getting together with family.

The devoted wife of the late Sidney, she was much-loved mum of Jennifer and Susan, dear mother-in-law of Peter and Steve, cherished grandma of Andrew, Joanne, Louise, Georgina, Sarah and dear greatgrand­ma (GG) to Holly, Frank, Maggie, Nelly, Issy, Emmi, Alice, Isaac, Oliver and Esther.

Dorothy’s funeral service will take place at time to be confirmed on Monday, January 8, at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Rishton, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

COLIN PILKINGTON

MR Colin Pilkington, of Accrington, died on Sunday, December 17, aged 88.

In his younger years he was a scaffolder and steel erector and then later in life he had his own industrial cleaning business until he retired in his late 70s.

As a young man he loved nothing more than walking his dogs through the countrysid­e.

He enjoyed watching various sports TV, especially football, cricket, darts and snooker. He spent many enjoyable hours watching and supporting his two grandsons Richard and Mark playing football and cricket.

He was also an avid John Wayne, Western films and James Bond fan. He was always pleasant, ready to help anyone and had a great sense of humour.

He was the loving husband of the late Mary, a devoted, loving and caring dad to Maureen. He was a cherished and devoted grandad (known as Di) to Richard and Mark and a wonderful and very special great-grandad to Isabella, who he adored.

Colin was a much loved brother to sister Ina and brother Hughie. He was the much loved son of the late Beatrice and Hermon. He was a much loved brother to his many late siblings, a loved brotherin-law, uncle, great-uncle, great, great-uncle and also a good friend to many.
