Injury K.O. fear over Conneely

ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman is hoping that Seamus Conneely won’t be missing against Crawley Town this weekend after suffering a nasty looking injury in the 2-0 defeat to Lincoln City.

Conneely has only recently returned to the Stanley line-up after a brief period out through injury, but was then involved in a challenge which left him with a big gash on his leg.

Coleman, was angry with the challenge on Conneely, and felt that Lincoln should have been penalised more for the fouls that they committed during the match.

“The worst challenge of the day was a horrendous one on our captain, Seamus Conneely, who has had about six on him this season,” he said.

“He had a huge gash in his leg as it has gone through his shin pad. The referee gives a foul but deems he doesn’t see it. It’s a yellow minimum and possibly a red.

“We also had nine men for three minutes because our lad got elbowed in the face and the referee and linesman said nothing happened.

“They still made him go off the pitch for a cut mouth, so he’s either bit his own lip, which I highly doubt, or somebody made contact with his face.

“They got one player booked in the game and yet we got a player sent off and a player booked, even though the cynical fouls that were made were mainly made by Lincoln, but the referee deems it as managing the game well.”
