COLIN ALLONBY

MR Colin Allonby, of Clarence Road, died on Wednesday, December 13, aged 54.

Colin loved DIY, baking, music and spending time with his children.

He leaves his wife Laura Allonby, children Oliver, Aaron and Tilly, brother Keith, sisters Sharon and Tracey, nieces, nephews and extended family.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 4, at Accrington Crematoriu­m Chapel, officiated by the minister John Haworth, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery.

Family flowers are welcome.

JOSEPH SHAW

MR Joseph Shaw, of Dill Hall Lane, Church, died on Sunday, December 17, aged 86.

After leaving school he worked as an aerial rigger for Relay Vision in Accrington.

After leaving there he worked for Rileys Chemicals, Clayton-leMoors as a delivery driver.

After he retired he enjoyed going to visit his brother Vincent and his family in New Zealand and his late sister Brenda in Australia.

He leaves his brothers Bernard, Lawrence, Vincent and David, and sisters-in-law Mary, Eileen and Pamela.

The funeral will be held on Friday, January 5 at 11am, at Hyndburn Funeral Services Chapel, Queens Road, followed by burial at Dill Hall Cemetery, Church at 11.30am.

HAROLD GRIMSHAW

MR Harold Grimshaw, of Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Tuesday, December 19, aged 86.

He retired as a self employed motor transport driver.

Harold’s hobbies included gardening and watching football.

Husband of the late Teresa Grimshaw, he was father of Siobhan and partner Dave and a grandfathe­r to Aimee.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 3pm, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, conducted by the minister David Ireland.

Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. GLADYS Marsden, formerly of Accrington, died peacefully at the Woodlands, Clayton-leMoors, on Thursday, December 21, aged 97.

The devoted wife of the late James Edward, she was much loved mum of June, dear mother-in-law of Derek, cherished grandma of Wendy and her husband Takis and the late Wayne, greatgrand­ma of Alexi and Hayley, Nick and Jess and Roberta, and great-great, grandma of Arlo Robert.

During the War Gladys worked in munitions for ROF, and then she trained as a cook and worked at Palatine Dairies and Clayton Goodfellow­s in Blackburn.

Gladys then went on to work as a domestic at Accrington police station until she retired. Gladys enjoyed caravannin­g and had a static caravan in Poulton-le-Fylde where she always enjoyed her weekends away with her late husband.

Gladys loved the sunshine and in later life enjoyed several holidays to Crete with her granddaugh­ter.

Above all Gladys loved her family.

Gladys’s funeral service will take place at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, Accrington, on Thursday, January 4, at 2.20pm.

PATRICK MCGUIGAN

MR Patrick James McGuigan, of Marlboroug­h Road, died on Wednesday, December 20, aged 79.

After leaving school, Paddy, as he was known, joined the Navy where he travelled the world.

He then began work as a lorry driver in Belfast before moving to England in the mid 70s and continued to drive for Caligen Foam up to his retirement.

He was a member of the Central Working Men’s Club, Dyers and Finishers and Sydney Street.

Paddy enjoyed crown green bowling, darts and snooker.

He spent many happy years at his caravan and in Malta with his wife, friends and family.

Paddy was a keen Spurs fan and a friend to many.

Father of the late Stephen, he leaves his wife Evelyn, sons Eamonn and John, daughter Lorraine, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, and was a loving uncle.

Requiem mass will be held on Friday, December 29 at 10am, at St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington, conducted by Fr Stamp, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery, at 11.30am.

Family flowers are welcome, donations are requested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

SHIRLEY MARTIN

SHIRLEY Martin passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, December 20, aged 82.

Loving wife of the late Tom, she was mother to Siobhan, Anne, John and Mary, sister to Pat and grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r.

She worked for a number of years at Hyndburn Leisure Centre before enjoying her retirement.

We would like to thank the paramedics and the doctors at Blackburn Royal Hospital for showing our mother kindness in her final hours.

The funeral service will be held at St Joseph’s RC Church Accrington on Monday, January 8 at 10am followed by cremation at 11am at Accrington Cemetery.
