Carols bring smiles
CAROLS galore put a smile on faces everywhere across Hyndburn this Christmas.
School choirs, singers, readers and musicians from five local schools all came together for the annual Catholic Schools’ Partnership Carol Concert at Mount Carmel school hall.
The other participating schools were St Oswald’s, St Mary’s Oswaldtwistle, Sacred Heart and St Mary’s Clayton-le-Moors.
The concert was attended by 160 pupils along with headteachers, teaching and support staff from all the schools, plus more than 200 family, friends and residents.
A charity collection raised £70 for St Patrick’s school in Kenya.
Addison Court Care Home in Accrington residents were full of festive cheer after a visit from Huncoat primary school pupils who sang a selection of Christmas carols.
Elena Aylmer, head girl, said: “When we sang for Addison Court we could tell that they really enjoyed it because they were clapping along.” Year four pupils also sang carols at Mapleford Care Home.
Pupils from St Peter’s CE and St Mary’s RC primary schools in Accrington attended Springhill Care Home to sing carols and songs.
Members of the Bahja Initiative also visited the care home to provide food and mince pies for its Christmas party.
Pupils from St Hubert’s RC and St Wulstan’s RC primary schools in Great Harwood raised £550 for the St Vincent de Paul Society by singing Christmas carols at the town’s Tesco store.
And inspirational disabled facilities campaigner Zack Kerr, 22, from Accrington, met with Gogglebox star Reverend Kate Bottley at a community carol service and festival of light service in Blackburn.
