Senior schools cup final of ’78

MOORHEAD High School beat St Christophe­r’s High School to claim the Hyndburn Senior School’s soccer cup.

The game was held in Great Harwood in 1978 and Moorhead triumphed 2-1 with their captain and midfield inspiratio­n Keith Starkie being named ‘Boy of the Match’. The Moorhead team,

top, included: R Tarbuck, A Stevenson, C Walker, D Roberts, D Jackson, S Rose, K Starkie, S Greenhalgh, R Liversedge, W Ramsbottom and A Clark.

The St Christophe­r’s team, right, included: M Chippendal­e, J Young, M Aspin, S Hargreaves, M Bolton, D Johnson, P Woodhouse, D Whalley, K Macron, A Gardener and A Purvin.

More than 400 people attended the annual Platt Saco Lowell works dance at Accrington Conservati­ve Club, below right.

Workers were entertaine­d by Les Allen and his band and Brenda and the Trebletone­s.
