Drunk thug assaulted nurses and doctor

A DRUNK thug who assaulted two nurses and a doctor on New Year’s Day has avoided jail.

Liam Daniel Thomas, 29, of Derby Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to three counts of assault in Blackburn on January 1.

He was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for six months, and ordered to pay £350 compensation.

Magistrates said the offences were ‘so serious’ because he was drunk, on licence and they were ‘repeated assaults’ which caused injury against public servants.
