Peel Park Orienteering Course:

A NEW orienteering course has been set up in Peel Park, Accrington, with a joint effort from The PROSPECTS Foundation, Forest Orienteering Club and Hyndburn Borough Council. Based on the original course which covered Peel Park and The Coppice area, the new course now has an extra 13 stations added on to the original 13 and has been extended to include the Arden Hall and Plantation Road areas. It covers the whole of the local nature reserve site, which is being designated by Hyndburn Borough Council through the Heritage Lottery funded project run by Prospects Foundation. George Crawford-Smith, from Pendle Forest Orienteering Club, who designed the new course, said, “At the request of Hyndburn BC and the Prospects Foundation, PFO have designed a permanent orienteering course (POC) for use by the general public and local activity groups. There are 26 marker-posts to find and four suggested courses for all ages and abilities.” Maps are downloadable from the council website.
