I WANT ANSWERS FROM OUR MP

-

OPEN letter to Graham Jones MP:

I (and I suspect most voters) am extremely concerned about the present state of politics in this country and the current direction of both major parties.

It would be very much appreciated therefore if you would advise me and your constituents on the following matters:

1) In your recent Accrington Observer column you advocated that we should vote for the return of a Labour government.

Would you please explain how that correlates with your declared lack of support for the current leader of the party Mr Corbyn in the form of your 172 Labour MPs collective vote of no confidence in him, and your refusal to serve as a shadow minister under his leadership?

2) Having declared when first elected that you would not serve on any House of Commons select committees as you would be ‘devoting all your energies to the benefit of your constituents’, why have you now changed your mind, and please list the committee you presently serve on?

I am particularly interested in what benefits your constituents derive from you serving as ‘chairman of the parliamentary group of MPs for Venezuela’ and whilst I personally have no objections to you serving on the ‘defence committee’, as this group of MPs is vital to the interest of the country; other than your often made statement that your granddad (as did my dad) served in the last war, what qualifications do you hold for serving on this august committee?

3) In view of how the Labour Party has shifted its principles and policies through the Blair and Miliband era (to whom you gave 100pc support), and now Corbyn (who increasingly appears to be unduly influenced by, or facilitating Momentum), what are your current personal policies and your views on the Party policies; and as a northerner, are you happy with the ‘big 5’ London based group of MPs who currently form the collective leadership of the Party?

4) As you voted to remain in Europe and your constituents voted to leave, bearing in mind that I have no recollection of you contributing to the debate in parliament, what is your current position?

I thank you in advance of your reply, which will be very much appreciated. D Wildeman Accrington
