LILY BUCKLEY
MISS Lily Buckley, of Dill Hall Lane, Church, Accrington, died on Friday, February 2, aged 93 years.
She had worked as a senior manager and section head at Mullard’s/ Phillips Blackburn, before retiring in 1980 to care for her mother.
She was heavily involved in Guiding and began Church Kirk Brownies in the 1960’s, becoming a District Commissioner for Oswaldtwistle and Lancashire East.
Following her retirement, she was also a County Officer for handicapped Brownies and Guide units and was President of the Accrington Division. She was also a member of Trefoil Guild and Guiding.
Additional interests include her role as Sunday School Superintendent at St. James Church, Kirk throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s.
She was also a Newsletter Editor and Church Warden for many years and helped organise fundraising of £12,000, for the refurbishment of the church organ.
A funeral service will take place at 1.15pm on Wednesday, February 21, at St. Paul’s, Plantation Street, Accrington, BB5 6RT, administered by Fathers Ashton and Lord, followed by committal at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematorium.
No flowers please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Christies’ Children’s Hospital Manchester.
