MISS Lily Buckley, of Dill Hall Lane, Church, Accrington, died on Friday, February 2, aged 93 years.

She had worked as a senior manager and section head at Mullard’s/ Phillips Blackburn, before retiring in 1980 to care for her mother.

She was heavily involved in Guiding and began Church Kirk Brownies in the 1960’s, becoming a District Commission­er for Oswaldtwis­tle and Lancashire East.

Following her retirement, she was also a County Officer for handicappe­d Brownies and Guide units and was President of the Accrington Division. She was also a member of Trefoil Guild and Guiding.

Additional interests include her role as Sunday School Superinten­dent at St. James Church, Kirk throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s.

She was also a Newsletter Editor and Church Warden for many years and helped organise fundraisin­g of £12,000, for the refurbishm­ent of the church organ.

A funeral service will take place at 1.15pm on Wednesday, February 21, at St. Paul’s, Plantation Street, Accrington, BB5 6RT, administer­ed by Fathers Ashton and Lord, followed by committal at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

No flowers please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Christies’ Children’s Hospital Manchester.
