MR Eric Bolton, of Accrington, died on Friday, February 16, at hospital, aged 96.

During the war, he joined RAF 238 Spitfire Squadron as part of the North Africa Campaign.

After the war he worked at Howard & Bulloughs as a machinist and then as a wages clerk for them up until his retirement in 1981.

He was the president of Willow Mount WMC where he enjoyed organising social events for them.

He was also a lifelong member of Platts Social Club, a member of Burnley Road Bowling Green Club, and a member of Peel Park Veterans Bowling Club.

He was a long standing fan of Accrington Stanley and liked all sports, especially football. He also had a keen interest in horse racing and liked cricket and Crown Green Bowls.

He enjoyed lots of holidays, especially cruises and spending time with his family.

He was the husband of the late Margaret, dad of Eileen, Jack and Maxwell, father-in-law of Eric, Diane and Lynne, grandad of Roger and Pamela, greatgrand­ad of Lauren, Joshua, Austin, Elle and Ophelia. The funeral, conducted by Mr John Milton, will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 1pm on Friday, March 2.
