I’m sure our luck has to start to turn

NOW is the time to spring into action and take charge of keeping us in that all-important top half of the table.

It’s been a very long time since we won a game and we’ll soon tire of draws feeling like wins (see the Man City game at home).

We’ve got a couple of the key members back from injury, so we can surely utilise them and see whether that helps us get back to winning ways.

One issue however is Heaton’s return. It’s brilliant and I’m very pleased he’s back, but where is he going to play?

Pope has gone above and beyond all of our expectations when he was quickly brought in following Heaton’s injury – he’s done so well in fact it seems almost unfair to have him on the bench.

Perhaps it will become rotational, which isn’t something to argue with.

We’ll soon have a bench worth as much as our starting 11 like the rest of them.

It seems that Southampton are having defensive trouble leading up to the game on Saturday, which can only hope stands us in good stead. I believe that the boys are hungry for a win too and that always counts for something, because the losses and draws (with maybe the exception of Swansea before the break last week) having been because we’ve just been awful, but more a case of bad luck.

If the Premier League up until now is anything to go by, luck has to go your way sometimes, so we could be feeling extremely lucky by close of play Saturday.

We have got to start proving that we are worth that elusive sixth place. We’re more than capable of jumping up a spot this week and that’s without relying on everyone else around us losing. We can make this happen for us ourselves and that alone is something to be proud of.

I’ve got a good feeling about this weekend and so should everyone else!
