POTHOLE MISERY

- Hugh Davies Accrington

I hit a pothole it rattled my teeth,

Should I be worried about damage underneath?

Normal potholes, proper tyre pressures, you’re safely on your way.

Hit a deep one and you might have a big bill to pay.

Suspension damage, like broken ball joints,

Damage to tyres leading to driving penalty points.

Alignment knocked out leading to tyre wear,

Car pulling to one side producing a serious heart scare.

Tyre damage could look fine but blow out later,

A bulge on the outside, a future deflator.

Spring is a pothole season watch out and slow down,

Look out for cyclists swerving to avoid them round town.

Where warmer and colder conditions do meet,

Potholes will be more abundant under our feet.

Expansion of cracks takes place at a faster pace,

Undermining the asphalt roads at the subsurface.

Potholes are present on a journey I regularly make,

Up Burnley rd, at the junction of Bolton Avenue, my bones shake.

Lets make our roads safer and achieve our goals,

And cut out our misery of crashing down holes.
