Kee’s late winner delights Sean

ACCRINGTON Stanley midfielder Sean McConville says the team’s injury time winner against Luton Town on Saturday was one of his best ever moments at the club.

The Reds moved to the top of the League Two table when they picked up a 2-1 win at Luton Town, with Billy Kee scoring in the final seconds of the game to secure the victory.

McConville got the earlier goal in the game for Accrington, but he says the winning goal from Kee is the one that will live long in the memory.

“It’s up there as one of my best moments that I have experienced playing for this club. I’ve had some great nights and some great goals but to see the smiles and the celebrations from all of those travelling fans – it we enjoyed the moment.”

McConville was pleased with the goal he scored in the game, and thinks that it ranks as one of the best he has scored during his career.

“I’d say that one is definitely in the top five. I scored another great one against Luton in the FA Cup, so I do enjoy scoring good ones against them,” he said.

“I was disappointed to miss one five minutes earlier, but when Kayden (Jackson) laid it off to me in that position, I had no other thought in my head than to hit it. I’ve caught it sweet as a nut and it’s gone into the top corner.”

Despite the victory, McConville says the Accrington players aren’t getting ahead of themselves even though they are now two points clear at the top.

“At the same time we are well aware that we haven’t won or achieved anything yet, we will enjoy the victory but we will come straight back down to earth and we will be fully focused on going into the Forest Green game and picking up another three points,” he said.

“We have got 10 cup finals left and that is how we will treat each game, we will take each game as it comes and we will keep ticking off those wins.”

Accrington are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Forest Green Rovers.
