More play equipment planned to update park

-

AN aerial runway, rotating see-saw and a sling shot are among exciting new attractions earmarked for a Hyndburn park.

Plans have been drawn up by the council to update and expand the play area at Baxenden Recreation Ground.

The project follows similar upgrades at Milnshaw Park in Accrington.

It will see the 1970s swings replaced with new ones and four new pieces of play equipment.

Planning documents drawn up by Mark Hoyle, of the council’s parks and open spaces team, said: “The proposal is to extend the fenced play area to include additional children’s play equipment.

“The extension will be into the grassed area at the rear of the ballcourt. There will also be an extension of six metres at the front of the play area (closest to Hollins Lane) into the existing tarmac surface.

“The area will be predominantly level and include five items of play equipment manufactured to British Standards by several different playground equipment manufacturers. This will include a basket swing, sling shot, swings, aerial runway and a small rotating see-saw.”

A decision will be made by planning officers in the next few months.
