-

NOMINATIONS are open for the Pride of Accrington Lions Youth Awards 2018.

Organisers are looking for teachers, youth leaders, parents, siblings, churches and peers to put names forward.

The awards are open to any child or young person who lives, attends school or college, is part of a community group or works in Hyndburn.

They are split into age groups 10 years and younger, or 11 to 18.

Caz Moreton, of the Accrington Lions, said: “The awards are now in their seventh year and are going from strength to strength with more nominations coming in each year.

“Do you know a child or young person with connections to Hyndburn that makes you feel proud to know them? If so, why not share that information with us and let them get the acknowledgement that they deserve?”

Award categories include: young carer; caring for others; bravery; environment; community improvement; disaster relief or public health; sportsperson; musician and fundraising.

The closing date is May 31 and the presentation will be held at Brook Street Club on June 23. To apply call 0845 833 7386 or email caz.prideof@gmail.com.
