DEMENTIA HELP

THE Hyndburn Dementia Hub will hold a drop-in session to help people living with or caring for someone with dementia or memory impairment.

It will take place at Clayton-le-Moors Baptist Church on Sparth Road from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, April 12.

The session features guest speaker Faxi Assi, from Lancashire Fire and Rescue, who will give a talk on ‘Safety innovations for people living with Dementia.’

Easter-themed refreshments will be available.

POLICE COSTS

THE Police Commissioner has urged ministers to reconsider a decision to reimburse Lancashire Police a fraction of the costs of policing ongoing fracking protests.

Hyndburn council chiefs have raised fears over the potential fallout from drilling in the borough, following protests across the county.

Clive Grunshaw said the costs of the policing operation at Preston New Road have reached close to £7m, but they have received just £1.4m back.

MILES OF HELP

PEOPLE across Hyndburn are being asked to join walk, run, hop, skip, jump or swim a mile.

Your Mile Your Way is being coordinated by Lancashire County Council as part of its Active Lives and Healthy Weight programme.

Leisure providers will be running activities on the day - Friday, May 18.

Hyndburn events will include a Walking For Health mile at 10.30am at Hyndburn Leisure Centre.
