Old photos needed for heritage walk
ORGANISERS of a heritage walk are appealing for old pictures ahead of their next event.
The ‘Discovering Old Oswaldtwistle’ group was formed last year and has held two successful walks down Union Road matching old pictures with current locations.
Gayle Knight said they have now been boosted by Heritage Lottery funding and will hold another walk next month.
Speaking at a recent public meeting, she asked residents to help provide more old pictures.
Gayle said: “The project came about because of all the old photographs of towns on Facebook and how fascinating they are.
“It was a really popular thing and everyone really enjoyed it. On the first walk it rained and on the second one it snowed so we hope the third one is going to have sunshine.
“If you’ve got any old photographs of old Oswaldtwistle from whatever age then it would be really interesting for us to see it and incorporate it.”
The walk will take place on Sunday, May 27, starting at 1pm from The Black Dog pub and ending at the Civic Arts Centre with ‘soup and a brew’.
Entry costs £6 for adults and £3 for children. To book a place call 01254 398319.
