Sights are now set on the Gunners

KATERINA LEE’S CLARETS VIEW

WHAT a day Saturday was! We did what we had to do and more against Leicester, who will struggle to catch up to us in seventh now and the gap between us and Arsenal has been closed to a mere two points thanks to Newcastle.

Saturday was a complete and utter celebration and almost a welcome to Europe, whereby fans from all over the continent seemed to descend - it transcended across how important this match really was.

We met Finnish, Danish, Icelandic and Dutch clarets (the famous Helmond clarets), exciting to consider that this could be how we spend all of next season!

The Helmond clarets even brought an amazing tribute flag to hang over the cricket field depicting two fans, one Burnley, one Helmond, in an exchange of camaraderie and companionship for seasons to come.

The match itself was a whirlwind of joy for the first 20 minutes, everything we could ask for.

Two fantastic goals, pure elation.

The last 10 minutes, I think I bit my hand off with nerves, but we saw it through right to the end, and it really does look like we’re all going on a European tour.

The pressure is on against Chelsea in our Thursday night match, but as we ride on this wave of pure hope and joy, we all have a good feeling about this.

We could overtake Arsenal to be in sixth place in the Premier League to further cement this wonderful season we’re having.

The penultimate game of the season against Arsenal at the Emirates is feeling more and more intense, but maybe this fourth run in with them could be our time to shine, maybe even do to them as they did to us each time and clinch all three points in the dying moments of the match – a real stinger for them and a moment that will perhaps go down in Burnley’s history.

What an unbelievable time to be a claret and what a great time to really go for it in our last few matches of the season. I have every hope that we can end this season in the most successful we’ve had for years.
