LOVING mum and grandma Carol Anne Burke, of Accrington, died at her home on Monday, May 28, aged 71.

She was the dearly loved mum of Diane, Sharon and Hayley, loving grandma of Daniel, James and Maisy and also a dear mother-in-law of Steven.

Carol was a hard working lady and had various jobs in her lifetime.

She was an antique dealer in Baxenden, traded in chimney pots, sold children’s clothing on Haslingden market and spent some time working at Acre Cafe in Haslingden.

In her spare time, Carol was a keen walker who loved to walk the UK coastal paths.

She always enjoyed listening to music, ranging from Billy Fury to the latest chart hits, along with knitting and sewing.

The funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Wednesday, June 13 at 1.40pm.

Family flowers only please and donations in memory of Carol may be made to Action for Children. Please wear bright colours.

Funeral director: Champ Funeral Services. MRS Lesley Mary Street, of Milnshaw Gardens, Accrington, died on Thursday, May 31, aged 67.

She was a clerical assistant at Great Universal Stores, Burnley.

Lesley loved reading and watching television - especially the soaps - and holidaying, both in the UK and abroad.

She was a member of Brookes Club and Sydney Street Club along with her husband Alan.

She leaves her husband Alan Street, and son Antony Lee Todd. She was the sister of Alison, Audrey and Mary, was a much loved auntie, and also leaves her grandson Jacob.

The funeral service, conducted by David Ireland, will be held on Monday, June 11, at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only with donations to Macmillan or Cancer Research UK.

ALLAN TAYLOR

MR Allan Taylor, of Lynwood Avenue, Clayton-le-Moors, died peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Friday, June 1, aged 92.

After leaving school, Allan started an apprentice­ship at Howard & Bullough, where he remained for all his working life up until his retirement in 1989.

In his spare time and during his retirement he greatly enjoyed watching cricket and was life member at Accrington Cricket Club as well as being a former chairman there.

He was also a member of Mercer Park Bowling Club and loved crown green bowling along with his friends.

Without a doubt though, Allan’s favourite past time was spending time with his family, he also took pleasure gardening and going away on holiday and has travelled to many places throughout his life, especially in Europe, including Croatia, the Greek Islands and Spain.

Allan sadly leaves his dearly loving wife of 66 years Elsie, his much loved children Susan and Mark, his dear daughter-in-law Kathryn and his treasured grandchild­ren Matthew and Amy.

His funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 12, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

AMY RUSHTON

AMY Rushton, formerly of Clayton-le-Moors, died peacefully at Each Step Nursing Home in Blackburn, aged 95.

She was the dearly beloved wife of the late Joseph Briggs and the late Thomas Rushton, much loved mum of Vivien, Martin, Graham and Norma, dearly loved grandma, great-grandma and great, great-grandma.

Amy worked for many years at the local firm Carborundu­m.

In her spare time she loved knitting and dressmakin­g and was a wonderful baker.

She enjoyed watching TV and was particular­ly happy when listening to Perry Como.

Amy lived for her family and will be sadly missed.

Amy’s funeral service will take place on Friday, June 15 at All Saints Church, Clayton-leMoors at 11.30am followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m.
