MR John Philip Ashton, of Clayton-Le-Moors, died MRS Gerda Robertshaw, of Brown Birks Road, Huncoat, passed away peacefully at Greycroft Residentia­l Home, Accrington on Sunday, June 10, aged 90.

During her working life Gerda worked for many years at Highams Mill Woodnook and during the 60s and 70s also helped out at the family café in Accrington. MR Jack Wilkinson, of Baxenden, died on Saturday, June 9, aged 96.

Jack was a stall-holder selling cooked meats, bacon, pies and sausages on Blackburn Market before retiring with wife Pat in 1987.

A member of The Rose Society, Jack travelled all over the country exhibiting his roses. He won prizes at Hampton Court, Southport Flower Show and the Lakeland Rose Show. Jack was also a member of R.A.F.A. and used to breed budgerigar­s.

Husband of the late Pat, Father of David and MRS Jean Ward, of Sprucewood Close, Accrington, passed away on Friday, June 15.

She was a former hairdresse­r, and worked at Mullards, before moving on to ASDA, Accrington prior to retirement. She became a Pastoral Auxiliary for St. John’s Church, Accrington.

She loved spending time with family, friends and enjoyed trips to garden centres, Ribble Valley, and was passionate about St John’s Church, Accrington. Her hobbies also included watching the soaps, completing puzzles and crosswords, and she loved reading and trips to Cornwall to visit family.

Jean leaves her husband Paddy, children Sue, Mick, Lisa and late son Stephen, daughter-in-Law Julie, sons-in-Law Brett and Hudson, sister-inlaws Sandra and Jackie, grandchild­ren Gemma, Jenna, Jamie, Leah, Grace, EDITH Tattersall, of Mountain Lane, Accrington, passed away on Sunday, June 17, aged 95.

She was a driver for the fire service during the War, and was retired from being a private chauffeur for a Doctor of Law.

Her hobbies included driving, dancing, embroidery and baking. She enjoyed doing voluntary work for several local charities and was a member of St Anne’s Friendship Group.

Dearly loved Wife of the late Fred, beloved Mother of Alan and Marilyn, loving Nanna of Debi, Christophe­r, Nicola and Andrew and Great-Nanna to Maddison, Francesca, Theo and Xanthe, she will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

A funeral service will take place at 3pm on Thursday, June 28, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, followed by cremation.

Family flowers only please, however donations requested to MRS Debbie Riley, of Cockerley Fold, Hoyle Bottom, Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Tuesday, June 12, aged 55.

She worked for Lloyds Bank Corporate Banking before moving on to The Hot Pot Catering Unit.

Debbie loved horses and was a keen horse rider and she also enjoyed baking.

She leaves her husband, Stuart Riley.

A funeral service will take place at 12.20pm, on Friday, June 29, at Accrington Crematoriu­m Chapel, with Celebrant Judith Talbot, followed by cremation.

Family flowers only please, however donations are requested to Only Foals And Horses c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services. MR Dennis Greenwood Brown, formerly of Ward Street, Great Harwood, sadly passed away in hospital on June 11.

He was a loving brother, dad, uncle, grandad and great-grandad.

The funeral will take place at Ardsley Crematoriu­m, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 5EH on Friday, June 29 at 10.50am.

Family flowers only, with donations to Barnsley Hospice.

The family would like to welcome family and friends to Gilroyd Social Club, Saville Road, MR Thomas Hanson, of Accrington, sadly passed away on Sunday, June 10, aged 87.

Tom, as he was known, was the devoted and much loved husband of Irene, and dearly loved father of Debbie and the late Kim.

Tom was a chemistry lecturer at Bolton Technical College for many years and loved his work.

He also loved travelling abroad on relaxing holidays as well as walking in the Lake District. He was a talented artist who loved to paint - mainly wildlife and country landscapes and he had a passion for aeroplanes and steam trains. Thomas was a true family man and enjoyed nothing more than getting together with family and friends.

Tom’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28 at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, Accrington at 1.40pm.

Donations may be made in memory of Tom to Cancer Research UK and Moorfield Eye Hospital Charity and The Alzheimer’s Society via funeral director Champ Funeral Services, Bank House, Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington.
