ENFIELD picked up a comfortable win after defeating Bacup by 57 runs at Dill Hall Lane.

After winning the toss and batting first, Enfield made a score of 223-9. At one stage they looked on course to make 300 but professional Ernest Kemm took 5-54 and Matt Thompson took 3-57 to the score to reasonable proportions.

Opener Lewis Wright made 77 and Adam Bracewell a quick fire 62 as the Bacup fielders failed to take a number of chances offered. Matt Thompson with another brisk of innings of 30, Simon Newbitt 40 and Tim Farragher 43 all making good contributions.

However the rain didn’t materialise and the rest of the Bacup batting struggled to deal with the ever increasing run rate and were bowled out for 166.

Enfield’s seconds were also in action against Bacup seconds over the weekend and it was Enfield who were celebrating again.

Bacup made a good start at Lanehead where good opening spells from Matthew Aspinall (3-44) and Liam Naylor (2-38) reduced Enfield’s 2nd XL to 55-5.

But Enfield rallied to post a score of 201 all out.

Dom Boardman picked up four late wickets and keeper Chris Gansler helped himself to five victims. Bacup made a good start with Scott Thompson making 43, but a collapse saw them bowled out for a disappointing 137.

Church won the toss and decided to field first, and it proved to be a good decision as they were able to bowl Littleborough all out for 91. Littleborough were 62-1 at one stage, but then fell to 70-8, and that led to their downfall.

Church then eased to their target, reaching it with just 18 overs played after a top score of 58 from Sam Holt.

Despite decent scores from Patrick Swanney, Paul Houldsworth and Matthew Oddie, Great Harwood were bowled all out for 148.

The league game between ACCRINGTON and Haslingden at Bentgate couldn’t be completed after it fell victim to the weather.

Haslingden won the toss and decided to bat first, and a score of 91 from professional Kamran Ghulam put them in a good position, but the rest of his teammates could only score 35 runs between them, and along with 30 runs from extras, Haslingden finished on 156 all out.

James Hayhurst, Jake Clarke and Janith Liyanage all took three wickets each for Accrington, while Kieren Grimshaw chipped in with one wicket.

Accrington didn’t get the chance to reply in their own innings, as the weather prevented them from batting and the match ended in a no result.

Only three Rochdale batsmen managed to make double figures, as Roch- dale were bowled all out for just 77. Matt Burdaky was the pick of the bowlers for Ramsbottom, finishing with figures of 5-39.
