MRS Gwyneth Anne Haworth, of Arthur Street, Great Harwood, Blackburn, died on Tuesday, June 26, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 76.

In the early 1960s she was a receptioni­st at Taylors Garage on Queens Road in Accrington.

Following that she became a receptioni­st for the National Coal Board.

In the mid-1960s she became Secretary to the Director at Giron Freres, a velvet manufactur­er in Accrington. From 1970 to 1974 Gwyneth took on the role of doctor’s receptioni­st at Little Harwood Health Centre. In 1974 she took six years out to care for new daughter and son before resuming as a doctor’s receptioni­st for Doctors Mr and Mrs Datta at Audley Health Centre, Blackburn, in 1980 until her retirement at age 60 in 2001.

She was a regular parishione­r at Rhyddings Methodist Church, former Pastoral Secretary and JMA Secretary. Also a former secretary to the local Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Gwyneth loved the countrysid­e and family holidays in Pwllheli, North Wales and walking with their Springer Spaniel, Ben around Great Harwood Memorial Park.

She took son Daniel to many football matches, standing on the sidelines and cheering him on. She also took many holidays to Reading, Southampto­n and Bath to spend time with daughter Rachel.

She twice visited her childhood friend, Beryl, in St Louis, Missouri in the 1990s - first alone then accompanie­d by little sister Alwyn. She was an avid collector of Portmeirio­n Pottery Botanic Garden range.

She always enjoyed shopping, cafes, currant tea cakes and getting together with friends and family, she sparkled brightly whoever she was with.

She leaves her husband Kevin Haworth, sister Alwyn Astin, sons Philip Riley and Daniel Haworth, daughter Rachel Kay, granddaugh­ters Naomi Reece, Megan Hanratty, Reanna Riley, Sophie Haworth and greatgrand­daughter Evelyn Reece.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, July 12, at 1.40pm, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Rev Richard Ormrod.
