ACCRINGTON came out on top in their Lancashire League match against Middleton after defeating their opponents by seven wickets at Towncroft.

Middleton batted first after winning the toss and were 76-0 at one stage, but good bowling from Accrington restricted their opponents from that point onwards and they were bowled all out for 135. Accrington eased to their target in reply, as Kieran Grimshaw hit 69 to help the side reach the total in just 26 overs.

Accrington couldn’t pick up a win in their T20 match though after losing to Clitheroe by seven wickets at Thorneyhol­me Road. Accrington batted first and finished on 1445, with Jake Clarke top scoring with 73.

Clitheroe reached their target with seven wickets and five overs to spare, thanks to good scores from profession­al Fawad Alam (63) and Thomas Lord (50).

RISHTON picked up a huge victory after managing to defeat Burnley by two wickets at Blackburn Road. Burnley won the toss and decided to bat first, with opener Liam Bedford finishing unbeaten on 100 and fellow opener Chris Holt scoring 70. The rest of the team struggled to contribute though and Burnley could only end on 216-8 after 50 overs.

Rishton profession­al Mansoor Amjad led from the front in reply, top scoring with 113, as Rishton managed to chase down the target and earn the brilliant win with two wickets and five balls to spare.

While they may have won in the league clash, Rishton’s T20 match ended in defeat against the same opposition after they were beaten by 23 runs against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Burnley batted first and made 155-8, with Rishton’s reply saw them only able to make 132-8 after their 20 overs.

CHURCH were victorious in their Lancashire League after defeating Todmorden by 36 runs at Blackburn Road.

Profession­al Johnny Riekert top scored for Church with 105 from 156 balls, with Levi Wolfenden (58) and Josh Scully (51) also contributi­ng as they finished on an impressive 235-2 after 50 overs.

Todmorden got off to a decent start in response and found themselves 143-2 at one stage, but a collaspe soon followed and they were bowled all out for 199, handing Church the victory.

It wasn’t a perfect weekend as Church suffered a defeat in their T20 match, losing to Lowerhouse by 24 runs at Liverpool Road. Lowerhouse batted first and finished on 152-3 after 20 overs, while Church were bowled all out for 128 in response, meaning they came up short.

ENFIELD lost in their league match after an eight wicket defeat against Clitheroe at Dill Hall Lane.

Enfield won the toss and decided to bat first, with the team posting a total of 151-9 at the end of their 50 overs after an unbeaten 69 from profession­al Shashrika Pussegolla.

Clitheroe comfortabl­y chased down the target, needing just 27 overs to do so as they ended on 152-2 to condemn Enfield to defeat.

There was something to cheer about for Enfield though as claimed bragging rights in their T20 match against GREAT HARWOOD after picking up a 45 run victory at Dill Hall Lane.

Enfield won the toss and decided to bat, with opener Adam Bracewell hitting an impressive 105 from 61 balls, while Joseph Wrigley scored 56 from 46 balls as Enfield posted a total of 178-1 at the end of their innings.

Great Harwood profession­al Ashen Silva was their top scorer as he made 60, but the rest of his teammates struggled to contribute and the team were bowled all out for 133, handing Enfield the win.

It was a frustratin­g weekend for Great Harwood as they were also beaten in their league match, losing by five wickets against Lowerhouse at Liverpool Road.

Great Harwood batted first and made 168-8, but Lowerhouse reached their target with four overs to spare to claim the victory.
