Student Adam’s artwork goes on show

- YVONNE ROBINS

HAWORTH Art Gallery is proud to support up-and-coming young artists and we are pleased to exhibit the work of Adam Whewell from Accrington.

Adam attended St Christopher’s High School and was always interested in art.

Encouraged by the staff in the art department they inspired him to experiment with different styles and mediums.

After leaving St Christopher’s he attended Blackburn College where he studied for a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

At Blackburn College Adam eventually merged his habit of doodling with his developing artistic style creating intricate, detailed drawings.

Adam has just completed his second year at Buckinghamshire New University studying a BA (Hons) in illustration.

He is excited to be going into his final year and working on his dissertation topic relating to mental health and how art can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing.

Looking ahead, Adam envisages continuing producing commissioned pieces and he enjoys producing large scale works alongside commercial murals.

Adam’s exhibition can be seen along the Bell Corridor space in Haworth Art Gallery until August 28.

The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday, noon to 4pm and Saturday, Sunday noon to 4.15pm. There is free admission and parking.
