NURSERY children and staff are celebrating after being graded ‘ outstanding’ by inspectors.

Sparthfield Happy Day Nursery, on Whalley Road in Clayton-le-Moors, was rated outstanding in all four key areas, covering leadership and management, teaching quality, children outcomes and personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Ofsted inspector Karen Bingham was highly praiseworthy of the ‘remarkable’ nursery staff and said they are ‘highly motivated to provide the best possible learning outcomes for the children’.

Nursery bosses said they are ‘delighted’ with the inspection result after previously being rated ‘good’ in 2014.

A spokesperson said: “As a nursery, we endeavour to provide each and every child the very best nursery experience which we are pleased is reflected in our grading of outstanding.

“Our dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic staff continually strive to provide excellent care and learning.

“They really are an outstanding team who work together to ensure the nursery continues to be consistently exceptional.

“A big thank you to all of our wonderful children and parents.

“You have played a big part in the continual development of our nursery and your support towards our grading of outstanding is greatly appreciated.”

The 2006-registered nursery, which employs 15 staff, caters for nearly 100 children up to the age of four.

In her report, inspector Bingham said: “The learning experiences provided by the nursery team are remarkable. Staff use the interests and imaginations of the children to devise the most wonderful activities.

“The highly inclusive setting ensures that diversity is explored and embraced at every opportunity.

“Children access exceptional resources and grow within a culture that promotes the values of acceptance, democracy and equality.

“Teaching is excellent in every room. Staff challenge the children at every opportunity and promote their inquisitivness.”

“[The] children are delightfully confident and self-assured. They tell stories about their adventures using imaginative embellishments.

“Children who speak English as an additional language flourish and display a wide range of vocabulary. Behaviour is exemplary.”
