MARY JOLLY

-

OF your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Jolly, known as Molly, of Clayton-leMoors and formerly of Tottington, Bury, who died peacefully on Sunday, August 5, in hospital following a long illness, aged 95.

She was the dearly loved wife of the late Geoffrey, much loved mum of Simon and daughter-in-law Pascale, cherished grandma of Jonathan and Scarlette, devoted sister of Kathleen and the late Betty and Jonny, and dear auntie to Edna, Stephen and Anne.

Molly was born in Bootle and spent most of her life living in Bury before moving to Clayton-le-Moors with her sister Kath seven years ago.

Following her school days Molly went into nursing. She then became a midwife, and later a health visitor.

She was recognised for her experience, knowledge and wisdom and became a field work instructor training others to be the best they could. She reached out in compassion to others and was efficient, caring and very proud in her role.

Following her retirement, Molly and her sister took an Open University degree in sociology and were like two peacocks at their graduation at Preston Guild Hall and afterwards at their celebratory party.

She loved music and was also a most avid reader of books and journals. Cooking was never her strong point and if Geoffrey didn’t want her to find something, he would hide it in the oven.

First and foremost Molly was a devoted wife, mum, grandma and sister and she also doted on her little dog - Blackie. Requiescat In Pace.

The service to celebrate Molly’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at St Mary’s RC Church, Clayton-le-Moors at 12.30pm, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40pm.

Donations may be made in memory of Molly to Dementia UK via funeral director L Champ Funeral Services, Bank House, Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington.
