CIVIC ARTS

-

LAUREN STIRZAKER

WE are in the midst of our summer season at the moment, with a summer school on each week throughout the holidays.

We also have a crafting kids session on each Wednesday so it’s all go and nice and busy with lots of smiling children in the building!

We have also been busy with bookings at our community centre Hippings Vale on Harvey Street also, with children’s parties and fundraising events. Please get in touch if you want a large, reasonably priced venue with great facilities.

We are running a project with local women called Venus Voices; a collection of Stories, Monologues and poems. This will be held at the Civic on Friday, August 24, at 7pm.

The performance will feature local women who will be reading through a variety of inspiring short stories, poems and monologues which examine the journey of the life of a woman. We look at the subjects of love, living your dreams, overcoming obstacles, marriage, motherhood, mental health, families, menopause, ageing and self-esteem. This will include some original material written by the participants. We plan to make you laugh, make you cry and make you think but leave feeling empowered! There is no charge for tickets, but please reserve your place in advance online or by phone. We will be asking for donations at the end of the show on a ‘pay what you want’ basis. Whilst there are not many weekend events on over the summer, there is lots going on behind the scenes so we are building up a very busy autumn and winter programme for you to enjoy. Here is a sneaky peek into the programme in September:

Shark in the Park – Saturday, September 8 The Jersey’s – Saturday, September 15

5,6,7,8 The Steps Experience – Friday, September 21

The Haunting of Blaine Manor - Saturday, September 22

Manford’s Comedy Club – Saturday, September 29

Although many of our sessions stop over summer, we will be back with a jam-packed programme in September. Our sessions include sewing, drama, singing, dancing, craft, art, creative writing, adult drama, play readings and lots more. We also offer a range of baby groups, including bilinguasing, baby massage, sensory groups and baby yoga.

Do you have an idea for an event or a session?

We would love to hear from you!

Full listings for all the sessions and events can be found on civicartscentre.co.uk or give us a call and speak to a member of our friendly team on 01254 398319.
