Billy admits he needs to improve

-

ACCRINGTON Stanley striker Billy Kee admits he hasn’t been playing well enough for the club so far this season.

Kee has scored three goals so far this season, including two penalties, as his side currently sit in tenth place in the League One table.

The Reds are currently unbeaten in their last six league games, but four of those matches have ended in draw, and Kee thinks that improvements need to be made.

“We’re still trying to find our feet in League One and every game is difficult. I’ve not been playing the best and I still need to get better,” he told the club’s official website.

“It was nice to get the penalty in the last game but the lads are showing great spirit like we did last year. We’re staying in there.

“I know we’re scoring late but sooner or later things will change and our chances will go in and we’ll go and win by three or four.

“We’ve just got to stick at it and all work hard together as a unit and everything will be alright. We’ll win a lot more than we lose this year.

“We can compete against these teams and we’ve shown it. I know Burton Albion have come up through the leagues with us but they were in the Championship last year and their wage bill is probably around five times as much as ours.”

Kee’s pre-season preparations were affected after he suffered a foot injury, and he admits that is one of the reasons for his form.

“It’s set me back about four weeks. I had it all pre-season and I had injections and I was able to run around again. Hopefully I can do a lot more work with Jimmy (Bell) and John Doolan and get a bit fitter and sharper and I’ll be firing again,” he said.
