CALLS to preserve Hyndburn’s heritage (‘Decision on the fate of historic inn (Red Lion) is delayed’, September 14)

Mike Jduk: These buidings should be preserved, not demolished. As reported they are so relevant to Accrington’s early history. I agree they’re looking dilapidated and run down but that just means someone should have stepped in years ago to help preserve them. They are our national heritage. The very hub of where life began in Accrington. The Red Lion was the first Coaching house where travellers between Manchester and Clitheroe would stop off. The destruction of these properties must not be allowed!

Corinne Riley: This is a lovely street and you can feel the history. Please give this street some TLC that area could be beautiful.

Linda Rushworth: Should be restored, it’s a big part of Accrington’s heritage.

Rachel Bamford: They should be preserve dand done up so the history is accessible.

JULIE Hesmondhalgh returns to Hyndburn Park to open forest school (‘Julie goes back to school as forest learning takes root’, September 14)

Victoria Elizabeth: Fantastic! As an owner/ manager of a forest school locally and an ex-primary teacher, I know the benefits of the ethos that all of children of Hyndburn Park (my dad’s primary school donkeys years ago) will enjoy. Well done!

Amanda Shires: I would have loved to have gone to this opening. I went to that school while Julie was there. She was in the year below me.
