STANLEY were given some extra training last week after being put through their paces at the Royal Signals Football Assocation.

The squad were taken to Stafford for the training, where they went up against the army team and trained alongside them.

Warrant Officer Lee Fraser was part of the training, and he was impressed by the work ethic of the Stanley side.

“Even though there was a gulf in ability, it was a great training session put on by John and Jimmy who I have known for nine years,” he told the club’s official website.

“The Accrington squad had a great attitude, they showed their unbelievable team spirit and I was really impressed with the way they embraced our players.”

Stanley boss John Coleman added: “It was just a case of a new experience for our players, doing something different and seeing another walk of life.”

Meanwhile, Accrington were victorious earlier this week after a comfortable 4-0 away win against Morecambe in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

Goals from Andy Mangan, Piero Mingoia, Connor Hall and Offrande Zanzala earned a much changed Reds side the victory against a young Morecambe team, and thus booking them a place in round two of the competition.

ACCRINGTON earned their fourth 1-1 draw in as many games on Saturday afternoon against a resolute Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.

Stanley showed their mettle and once again came from behind to salvage a point on the Fylde coast, but John Coleman could feel aggrieved that his team did not win as the Reds
