MR Terence Coulson, of Abbott Clough Close, Knuzden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the East Lancashire Hospice, on Friday, October 12, aged 80.

In his younger years Terry, as he was known, attended Hyndburn Park School, before leaving to work on building sites as well as down the coal mines as a plumber.

He then worked for William Blythes in both Church and Hapton for 27 years up until his retirement.

In his spare time Terry enjoyed table tennis, snooker, five-a-side football, as well as browsing around flea markets and car boot sales.

He also took pleasure doing DIY, reading and going to the cinema.

Terry was a dearly loved husband of Carol, a much loved father of Michelle, Shaun, Jeanette and Craig and their partners, a treasured grandad, a dear brother of Ken, Adrian, Sylvia, Vivien and their partners, as well as a loving uncle and cousin.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held at 2.30pm on Tuesday, October 23, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Funeral director: Sarah Barton of Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwis­tle. MR John Derek McNamara, of Bold Street, Accrington, passed away on Thursday, October 11, aged 88.

Derek, as he was known, started work in 1949 with Calico Printers Associatio­n in Loveclough as a laboratory technician. He went on to Manchester College of Science and Technology, where he became an associate. He later attended Burnley Technical College, where he gained the Institute of Works Managers and subsequent­ly entered into this role.

Loveclough Printworks closed in 1980 and Derek moved to Newton Bank Printworks, Cheshire that specialise­d in Batik printing.

In 1982 Derek and his late wife Mary relocated to Zaire. Following the collapse of Zaire’s economy in 1985, Derek returned home when the factory closed. He began working for a Dutch screen printing company as technical and sales executive for the UK and Ireland until his retirement at 65.

In his younger years Derek enjoyed cycling, mountainee­ring and potholing. He had a life-long passion for motorbikes and continued to ride into his mid 70s. He also enjoyed rambling and model making.

Derek and Mary enjoyed holidays in the UK and Spain having a timeshare in Marbesa on the Costa del Sol.

During later years, Derek took great comfort from attending Sunday morning Mass at St Anne’s RC Church in Accrington followed by a sherry at the Peel Park pub with Sue and her family.

He also made a lot of friends at the Friendship Club at St Anne’s Church, where he will be missed.

Derek was married to the late Mary and leaves son Mike, daughter-in-law Michelle, daughter Pam and son-in-law Tony. He was grandad of Stephen, Alex, Dan, Liam, Levi and Courtney, greatgrand­father of Ella, Hollie and Minnie, and had cousins Angela and Elaine, brother-in-law Jack, sister-in-law Edna, and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10.15am on Tuesday, October 30, at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington, led by Fr Stamp, followed by a cremation at 11.40am at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, donations may be made to the Movember Foundation, which tackles prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

ALICE MARSDEN

ALICE Marsden, formerly of Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away on Saturday, October 13, following a long illness, aged 83.

Alice was a devoted family lady and was well-known for her work as a dental nurse at Garnett’s dentist, Oswaldtwis­tle, where she worked for many years.

She was the devoted wife of the late John, much loved and loving mum of Ian and Keith, mother-in-law and cherished grandma.

The funeral service will be held at 10.20am on Friday, October 26, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, Accrington.

ANGELA GEORGIOU

ANGELA Georgiou, nee Marsden, of Accrington, died peacefully in hospital on Saturday, October 13, aged 68.

Angela started her working life in a betting office but it wasn’t long before she progressed into working in accounting.

She became a qualified accountant and spent the rest of her career at Remploy and various other local companies. She loved working with figures and was extremely proud of her achievemen­ts.

Angela retired in her mid-50s due to ill-health but she neverthele­ss kept herself up-to-date with all things financial.

In her spare time, Angela loved to travel. She travelled to Australia and also on a couple of occasions to Italy with her mum Mollie. Her favourite destinatio­n was China, which she visited twice.

Once there she would enjoy the sightseein­g and she was particular­ly enthused by the vibrancy and culture to be found.

Angela was the dear sister of Pamela, cherished auntie of Lois and Antony, Chris and Lynsey and a dear great-auntie of Daniel, Zoe, Molly and Jack.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 1pm, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, Burnley Road, Accrington.
