CCTV appeal after clothing theft

-

AN angry and frustrated shop owner has launched a CCTV appeal after his shop was targeted by thieves.

Lee Makin, who runs clothing shop Dapper on Warner Street in Accrington, has shared CCTV footage on Facebook along with Hyndburn Police in a bid to catch the offender.

Six jackets worth a total of £600 were stolen at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, October 24.

The burglar used a large boulder to shatter the window to gain entry.

It is the latest in a spate of burglaries to hit Warner Street in the last few weeks.

Dapper was also broken into twice in 2017 with £7,000 worth of stock stolen.

Speaking about the latest burglary, Lee said: “I found out about it straight away. They used a big heavy boulder to smash the window.

“They went straight for the jackets and stole about £600 worth. However the window will cost me more than that to replace.

“It’s ridiculous how many shops have been done on the street. It has got beyond frustration.

“When somebody else gets robbed you feel like it’s yourself as well. You have to feel for all the businesses.”

A Hyndburn Police spokesperson said: “Officers would like to trace the male in the CCTV.

“If anyone recognises him, or the man himself sees this, please can you contact PC Graham Hartley or PCSO 7672 James Southworth on 01254 353103 quoting crime number ED1825210.”
