MR Michael Byrne, devoted husband of Myra and treasured father to Christine and Stephen, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 6, aged 83.

In his youth, he was lead drummer for the Boys’ Brigade and after leaving school, served his time as a motor engineer at Clock garage, Whalley Road, Accrington.

In his early 20s he took up a position with Relay Vision where he remained in charge of their fleet of vehicles for 30 years until the company sold out to Edwin P. Lees, providing the impetus to ‘go it alone’ and become the owner of Station Garage in Paxton Street.

In his younger days, Michael enjoyed ballroom dancing, going onto teach it for a number of years at Knowlmere Street Ballroom. Throughout his life, Michael enjoyed many holidays abroad and frequent trips to the Lake District.

His funeral service will be held at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington at 10.30am on Monday, December 17, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11.40am.

Family flowers only please, donations are welcome, in memory of Michael for Accrington & District Blind Society c/o funeral director Peter Regan, Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. MR Colin Berry passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, aged 77, after a short illness.

Colin worked as a sales manager until his retirement, when he then dedicated his time to raising money for Accrington Cricket Club. He leaves his beloved wife of 51 years Kathleen, loved daughters Janice and Karen, sons-in-law Graham and Gary and treasured grandchild­ren Ciaran, Matthew, Jack and Megan.

A funeral service and cremation conducted by Rev Philip Norris will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Monday, December 17 at 2.20pm.
