Theatre starlets get ‘brilliant’ ReAction

-

MUSICAL showstoppers from West End and Broadway hits were brought to Hyndburn for a fundraising concert.

ReAct Academy of Theatre Arts performed songs from some of the nation’s favourite shows, including Les Miserables, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hairspray, My Fair Lady and The Little Mermaid.

Cassandra Webster, who runs ReAct in Oswaldtwistle, said the cast of 50 youngsters had a ‘fantastic week’ at the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre.

One of the ‘many highlights’ was when the whole cast assembled on the stage to sing the Wicked song ‘For Good’, which was dedicated to the loving memory of former ReAct student Megan Lee.

Following each performance, cast members Olivia Walmsley and Olivia Staveley held a collection for The Anaphylaxis Campaign for their sponsored Skydive.

They will aim to complete the challenge later this summer in memory of Megan and raised a ‘fantastic’ £401.

Cassandra said: “The whole week was phenomenal. The standard of performances from every one of our cast members was breathtaking and the feedback from our audiences has been truly brilliant. It was a real rollercoaster of emotions, and we couldn’t have hoped for it to go any better.

“We are now all getting ready for our next big events, our summer schools which are always fantastic fun. We are holding two weeks in August which we are all very excited about.”
